No time to waste – Mavericks travel to Bath looking to get back to winning ways

29th February 2016

Vitality Netball Superleague

Round 6 Preview: Hertfordshire Mavericks V Team Bath

FCP: 7.45PM

On Saturday, Manchester Thunder won a hard fought match that Mavericks know was there for the taking.  What was billed as the biggest game of the season so far did not disappoint in that regard.  Our inability to capitalise on an 8 goal lead earned in the first quarter was disappointing to say the least. However, the best thing following a defeat is to get straight back into winning ways. Our match versus Bath presents that opportunity today.

As the saying goes 'sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.’  And we definitely learnt what we will need to do to finish these big games and come out victorious.  And so we head to Bath.  We are incredibly confident in our squad, our coaches – our Mavericks Family.  We will take what we learnt on Saturday and all we have learnt this season so far and in preseason.  We will battle and we intend to win.

There is no doubt Bath will be another tough contest.  That’s what defines this entire week – tough contest.  But our team are strong – they are strong on the court and importantly they are mentally tough.  So we have arrived at Monday looking only forward.  We will look to take this game from the outset and demonstrate what a threat we are in this league.

Coach Sam Bird said, “Bath are an exciting team to play against. We expect a high tempo game at their home ground. I believe the game will be won by the team with cool heads and leadership on court which this Mavericks squad has in abundance. ”

First Centre Pass is at 7.45 If you are not joining us at Bath you will be able to keep up to date with the action by following our twitter handle @HertsMavericks.
