Kat Ratnapala Appointed Director of Netball

Hertfordshire Mavericks are delighted to confirm that they have appointed Kat Ratnapala to succeed Robyn Broughton as the Club’s Director of Netball. Kat has a proven track record as a performance coach and a strong affinity to Mavericks having spent two years as Assistant Coach in 2011 - 2013 before re-joining the Club as Assistant Coach for the 2017 VNSL season.

In addition to acting as Head Coach for the senior team Kat will work with the Mavericks Pathway Head Coach (soon to be appointed) to develop a dynamic Performance Pathway to identify and recruit more young athletes into the Mavericks family.

Gloria Keech, Franchise Director say “we are delighted that Kat has agreed take the role of Mavericks Director of Netball, it is always great to see a member of the Mavericks family progress through the Club. She is an outstanding Coach with a strong vision for the future. Mavericks is an ambitious Club so I am confident that we will only get stronger and more competitive under her leadership. These are exciting time for Mavericks.”

Kat will take up her new role from 1st July 2017 for an initial four-year period and her first public engagement will be the All Stars Fast 5 competition at the o2 Arena in London on 23rd September.

On her appointment Kat said “It is a huge privilege to be offered this role and I’m really looking forward to leading Hertfordshire Mavericks into this new season and beyond. Being back in the Mavericks family again last year was fantastic.  It’s the start of such an exciting era for netball and  I’m blessed to be a part of it here at Mavericks.
