International Signings Strengthen Squad For 2016 Season

23rd November 2015

Mavericks are delighted to announce the arrival of two new international netball superstars, Sammy Wallace from Trinidad & Tobago and Joline Henry of New Zealand as well as the return  of crowd favourite Australian Sam May.  The final squad for the Vitality Super League 2016 season will be announced in early December.

With the Vitality Netball Super League starting on January 30th with Super Saturday, the Hertfordshire Mavericks Superleague squad believe they have the best cocktail of England Netball stars past & present combined with tantalising international imports.  Mavericks have signed no less than 5 England Players including our stalwarts Lindsay Keable & Layla Guscoth along with another five netballing stars that have represented England at various age categories.  The domestic strength and depth of talent in the squad has been topped off with these international signings:

Sammy Wallace is the exciting 6 foot 4 Goal Shooter/Goal Attack from Trinidad &Tobago with 36 caps for her country at WYNC & WNC. Her natural athleticism & accurate shooting promises to cause our defensive competition some headaches this season.

Sam May from Sydney Australia has been impressive in the last 2 seasons at NSL and was Mavericks Coaches Player of 2015. Sam has huge presence on the court and is machine like in the consistency of her performance.

Joline Henry: Our 3rd import is the most impressive signing in the history of NSL. Joline Henry (Johansson from 4th December) has a whopping 91 caps for the Silver Ferns. She has won gold & silver medals in the Commonwealth Games and 1 gold medal at WNC. Joline is renowned as a fierce player and her standards of play will set a new bar for the NSL.

Hertfordshire Mavericks has set out their stall and have every intention to improve on their 2nd place in 2015. The final 15 players will be announced early December and tickets for all home matches in the 2016 season are available from www.mavericksnetball.co.uk
