Welcome to the Ultimate Netball Club

13th February 2019

Saracens Mavericks took an Under 17 squad to play Wasps Netball Under 17s at RAF Cosford in Wolverhampton on Saturday 9th February.

The game started with both teams going goal for goal and the first quarter ended all tied at 10 all. The starting seven were left and tried to build on their performance and make any adjustments from the coaching points given. The girls were successful in doing so and Mavericks were able to score four and then five unanswered goals, making the score at half time 24 goals to 18.
Some wholesale changes made at half time and Mavericks stayed in control winning that quarter 11-10. The final quarter saw Wasps find their momentum and controlling the game - leading the quarter 8-4. Mavericks had tired legs and were making mistakes across the court. A time out saw five changes being made to the squad in the closing few minutes which definitely worked as we scored four unanswered goals - winning 43 - 36.
The crowd were fantastic throughout - with parents and supporters and members of the RAF netball team all enjoying competitive junior netball.
Thank you to Wasps for the game and to RAF Cosford who were great hosts.
Coach Sach Grant "This was a great opportunity for us for the squad of 12 to experience performance netball infront of a crowd. Many of the girls were nervous initially but all enjoyed the experience. With a long squad of 23 these matches are extremely important to us as we work towards the Netball Performance League tournament in July."
