Welcome to the Ultimate Netball Club

18th December 2018

After a very quick break from the Storm game, it was time to face the new look Bath side with the return of Guthrie, Artman moving back over to Bath from Mavericks and two new shooting imports from Australia, Friday and Commane.

It was Bath who took an early lead in front of their home crowd and despite interception opportunities and turnovers, Mavericks were unable to capitalise and Bath took a confident first quarter.

Changes in quarter 2 line up was a more evenly matched quarter, finishing 10-10, Mavericks missing just 1 of their shooting opportunities and taking 4 from 4 of their restart turnover through to goal. Still more consistency was needed throughout the court and a step up of defensive opportunities from the Mavericks back line, however quarter 3 brought more unforced errors and the home side once again capitalised.

Despite a more evenly matched quarter score in quarter 4, the score line and damage was already done and Bath, who took a confident victory.

Reflecting on the weekend, Director of Netball Kat Ratnapala said “These opportunities to get onto court are fantastic, it’s a great chance for the players to show what they are capable of, what units are able to do and to suss out the opposition. We did exactly that today and whilst we dropped 4 quarters (drawing 1 quarter and winning 3 quarters) we can take stock and be pleased of playing back to back games against top opposition."

"We can take this back into our training and into our first game against Manchester Thunder on Saturday 5th January at Super 10’s, Birmingham. We can’t wait to get out in front our home fans and hope we see some of the Mavericks family in the crowd.”
